Today was one of those gloomy days where the color of the sky perfectly matched the snow on the ground. A seamless blending where you couldn’t see where one ended and the other began. As the day went on the temperatures dropped sharply. It’s bitterly cold outside. (That’s what we get for living in South Dakota, right? The winds have picked up and are hungrily hunting around the windows and doors for a way inside.
And here we sit. The kids and I. They are all snug and cozy in their footy jammies. Cuddled on top of each other on the couch like a pair of puppies while they watch an episode of Curious George. I’m sitting at the desk. My toes all snug and warm in a pair of fleece lined slippers with a cup of fresh coffee sitting at my elbow.
It’s times like this when I realize how blessed we are. Snug and warm with tummies full from our chili dinner. Wanting for nothing. Content and cozy. Can’t end a day much better than that.
